Emma McMain, Ph.D., works in the College of Education at Washington State University as a postdoctoral teacher and researcher in areas of classroom assessment for pre-service elementary teachers, social and emotional learning (SEL), and cultural considerations in education. Broadly, her projects aim to promote social and ecological justice, valuing education as a key site of social transformation. In her recent dissertation, “Back to the Relationship: Educators Explore Social and Emotional Learning in a Critical Discourse Community,” Emma facilitated professional development on SEL with a small group of teachers across Washington state.
